Movement
Coming Home to the Body:
Along with deep emotional energetics, as this is what Leanne is well known for, on retreat, she also guides grounded somatic movement, as what she shares is key for the integration process. This support the big clearing and cathartic processes.
Pause. Feel the earth beneath you. The subtle pulse of your breath. The quiet hum of your body’s wisdom. This is where somatic movement begins, not in performance, but in presence.
A lifelong relationship with movement:
From childhood, movement was my language, my spark of joy. Whether on the tennis court, the dance floor, in the gym, my bedroom, or the stage, I felt an innate desire to express myself through motion. It was play, it was freedom, it was a way to feel alive. As a young athlete, I played sport at a significant level in Ireland, channelling my passion into the rhythm of competition and the discipline of training. Yet, as a sensitive soul feeling everything so deeply, my relationship with movement wasn’t always pure. Trauma wove its threads through my joy...whispers of insecurities, a sense of “not enoughness,” a pressure to perform or prove. These distortions dimmed the light of movement at times, pulling me away from the core ease it offered me.
Even so, movement remained my medicine, my companion, my safety net. It allowed me to move the energy, to uncoil the intensity of my emotions, and to breathe through the sensitivities that lived in my body. Over time, my journey deepened through diverse paths: as a physical therapist, I learned the mechanics of the body, as a personal trainer, I explored strength and resilience, as a yoga teacher, I discovered the power of breath and presence. Diving deep with my teacher into the embodiment of somatic awareness and the playful exploration of contact improvisation, I began to hear my body’s voice in new ways. These experiences wove together, guiding me to share my beautiful somatic journey, a path of healing, unwinding shame, deprogramming old patterns, and gently exposing the self-critic that once choked me
Today, as a part of my spaceholding, I weave my wisdom of energetics with the knowledge of the body and somatics to offer a unique invitation to return home to the body. This practice has helped me integrate the most deep and profound emotional and spirtual processes and brought me back to the safety and in-body joy I felt as a child, before the weight of “not enough” took hold. It’s a remembering....a return to the pure, unfiltered aliveness of moving with presence.
I’ve arrived at a beautiful place of deep somatic embodiment and attunement, with endless layers still to explore, integrate, and learn. I'm humbled every day.
This is not a destination but a lifelong conversation with the body, a conversation I’m passionate about sharing and guiding you in.
A Connection to the Earth:
To me, somatic movement is not dance, nor is it performance. It’s an in-body practice of deep awareness, a way to build capacity to feel, to feel, and to feel. It’s the quiet tremor of a muscle releasing, the way your breath carves pathways through tension. It’s a practice of returning to the body as a sacred map, guiding us back to our innate wisdom, our connection to the earth, and the stories we carry in our cells.
In my sessions and retreats, I guide movement from a unique connection point: you and the earth. I share contact dance improvisation videos on my Instagram. This is a passion of mine, but not what i teach. My somatic guidance is not about human meetings, as in the contact improvisation. .......Instead, it’s a form of contact improvisation where your partner is the earth itself. Through gentle, conscious movements. It's not a dance. I invite you to build a relationship with the ground beneath you, its weight, its support, its quiet presence.
This practice is about listening: to the subtle currents of sensation, the whispers of your body, the rhythm of your breath. It’s about cultivating a deep somatic awareness that allows you to reconnect, to yourself, to the moment, to the pulse of life that moves through us all.
What Somatic Movement Can Offer You.....
Somatic movement is an invitation to come home to your body to rediscover the safety and joy of being fully present in your own skin. It’s for anyone who feels disconnected, weighed down by insecurities, or curious about the wisdom their body holds. Through this practice, you can:
Release tension and old patterns with gentleness and curiosity.
Build capacity to feel deeply, emotions, sensations, and the quiet aliveness within.
Reconnect with the earth as a grounding, supportive partner.
Rediscover the in-body joy of movement, free from judgment or performance.
This is not about perfecting a pose, a dance, or chasing an ideal. It’s about slowing down, listening deeply, and letting your body guide you back to a place of safety and aliveness.
